Assistant Manager – Production (Car body)

Your mission

To plan, supervise and control all shell shop manufacturing activities related to passenger coach Car body fabrication, ensuring achievement of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale (SQDCM) objectives. The role is responsible for production planning, welding and fabrication process adherence, manpower utilization, productivity improvement, quality compliance and continuous improvement initiatives

Your profile

  • Plan and execute daily, weekly and monthly production schedules to achieve production targets as per the MPS
  • Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Engineering, Logistics and Maintenance departments to ensure uninterrupted production. 
  • Monitor work progress and take corrective actions to meet delivery commitments. 
  • Ensure manufacturing is carried out as per approved manufacturing process sheets, SOPs and work instructions. 
  • Ensure compliance with approved WPS, WPQ and welding procedures & support new welding qualification process
  • Drive reduction of defects, rework and repair rates. 
  • Promote strong safety culture & ensure compliance with EHS requirements and statutory regulations. 
  • Lead Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. 
  • Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). 
  • Reduce cycle time and manufacturing lead time. 
  • Optimize line balancing and manpower allocation. 
  • Drive implementation of 5S and Visual Management. 
  • Identify training requirements and improve operator competency. 
  • Ensure process documentation is updated and followed. 
  • Maintain production records, traceability documents and shift reports. 
  • Ensure compliance with customer and internal documentation requirements. 
  • Ensure Productivity & On-Time Delivery (OTD) & improve OEE
  • Cost Reduction through Continuous Improvement 
  • Support customer inspections, Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Ensure production complies with customer specifications, engineering drawings and quality standards. 
  • Coordinate with Quality team for in-process inspections and final inspections. 
  • Review NCRs and implement corrective and preventive actions. 
  • Drive Root Cause Analysis using problem-solving methodologies. 
  • Ensure First Time Right (FTR) and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
